Week of 9/28/15 - 10/2/15



- Health Projects are due this week! Remember that project must be complete by the time that you walk into class on Tuesday 9/29/15!


- Email papers to coachrogers.health@Hotmail.com  before your class block on Tuesday!


Monday - Finish chapter 22 illegal drugs. Students will work in small groups and discuss the two questions from the PowerPoint. The two questions are Discuss: Do you think teens should be responsible for preventing drug use by their friends? Consider how far a friend should go in preventing drug use.  


Debate: Should pregnant women be prosecuted for child abuse or something harsher for using illegal drugs while pregnant. Students will appoint a spokesperson in each group to summarize the group’s conclusion. 


Groups will write out their response and we will have open discussion covering the two questions.


Tuesday - Students will present their health projects to the class. Students must have a 4 page paper emailed to the teacher before class on Tuesday and they must have their presentation ready that covers what was written in their papers.


Wednesday - Students and teacher will cover chapter 24 STDs and HIV/AIDS.  Students will start Active Learning: Students will be divided into small groups and each group assigned a STD that was discussed in the lesson. Groups will prepare a 1 minute public service announcement (PSA) to educate the public about the STD. Students are advised to write the PSA in their own words. They will present their PSAs to the class.


Thursday - Students will complete Active Learning assignment and turn it in to the teacher.


Friday - Final exam study guide. Final exam is next Friday, October 9th. Health will end on the 9th. Personal Fitness will start Oct. 12th. Students will meet the teacher in the Morgan Gym and will bring a change of clothes so students can work out.

Week of 9/14/15 - 9/18/15


Monday - Students will start chapter 22 active notes. Chapter 22 covers Illegal Drugs.



Tuesday - students will take chapter 21 unit assessment. Students will start work on health projects. Groups for their health projects will be developed. Students will be given a rubric and expectations for their projects. Projects will consist of a 4 page paper and a presentations that outlines their paper. Each group will turn in a paper and present their presentation to their peers. Once groups are developed students will create an outline for their papers, each group member will understand his/her responsibilities, and the group will decide on the kind of presentation that the group will like to develop. All of this should be complete before going to the computer lab for the next two days so students can maximize their time in the computer lab.

Week of 9/8/15 - 9/11/15 - Alcohol

Monday - No School


Tuesday - Students will take chapter 20 assessment. Students will complete vocabulary for chapter 21. Students will complete cooperative learning assignment.


Wednesday - Students and teacher will cover chapter 21 lesson 1 and 2 using PowerPoint and active notes. Students will draw out the effects of using alcohol. This will be part of their notebook check.


Thursday - Students and teacher will complete chapter 20 notes. Students will start project  based assignment.


Friday - Students will reteach the material from chapter 21 to a partner. Each pair of students will develop a 20 question assessment to help them study for the unit assessment.
