This course is designed to help students understand the fundamentals of health and fitness and it’s importance in developing a healthy and active lifestyle. The course will emphasize successful strategies for maintaining good cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition. It will follow a conceptual approach dealing with the following topics: the nature of fitness, assessing individual fitness, developing and maintaining a life-long fitness program and developing an appreciation for efficient movement by viewing it as both an art and science. The course is also designed to help student develop an understanding of health as it relates to diet and the mental and emotional aspects of health.

Writing Prompt #1: Overview: My Self-Image

Directions: Writing prompt should be at least 1 page long. Remember how we write. We do not write like we talk or text. Use grammatically correct sentences. Be specific, give examples and answer each question in complete sentences.

Topic: First provide a mission statement that will sum up the purpose of personal fitness and what you hope to accomplish. Next, answer the next few questions in paragraph form: what is your current self-image (How do you feel about yourself)? What would you like to change about yourself physically, mentally, and/or emotionally? If you would not change anything please explain why and provide examples. What are your specific goals for personal fitness (I should see F.I.T.T in your work)? What is your action plan to reach your goals? Be specific and provide examples for everything!

Wednesday - Study your PowerPoint chapter 1 notes

Thursday - Study your Powerpoint chapter 1 notes

Friday - Start working on your Physical Fitness Monthly Planner and your Progress Tracker worksheets. Remember you are planning a weekly workout and developing your weekly goals for the following week. There are examples of what is expected in the Google classroom. You do not have to turn this in online. I will take them up when I see you. Make sure you are keeping up with the weeks because if we are not back in class after 2 weeks you will be required to submit them online.
